Trewan Sands St Annes Hotel |
Trewan Sands Partnership Update
| The Bond Hotel Group and Trewan Sands trust is pleased to report that the ongoing relationship is flourishing, the children’s charity provides families with disabled children holidays giving them a valuable opportunity often otherwise deemed impossible by the families. Below is the feedback from the first families, who visited The Bond Hotel in St Annes, “The St Annes Hotel is a truly accessible hotel with hoists, lifts, wet rooms and even accesses to change tables for children with severe disabilities, like Joshy who needed to be laid down for showers. The Staff are extremely friendlily and helpful. As a family just getting used to Oxygen being needed 24 hours a day it was a bit scary to go away and rely on Oxygen being delivered, but when we got there everything was ready for us. I had a panic as the Liquid oxygen was in the room(my inexperience) The staff at The Bond Hotel St Annes were reassuring and well used to Oxygen being needed! They were amazing!” “We went with another family who have a disabled little boy and it was fantastic to be able to relax, chat and feel normal.” “Our rooms were gorgeous; we had a double bed and a single bed in our huge room with an overhead hoist. This was great as Joshy sleeps with us at home. We had sea views and plenty of room! The bathroom was massive, it was a true wet room, and there were shower chairs and again lots of room.” “We felt relaxed and rejuvenated thanks to our stay, opposite a beautiful beach, the hotel has a lovely small town and a pier! It was wonderful to wake up and see the sea!! There is also a Toby pub across the road from the hotel, and near is an area with trampolines, bouncy castles and small fair rides.” “They have entertainment on at nights – Joshy loved being sung too!! There is also a comfy bar area and a wonderful hydrotherapy pool which can be booked for family use! I have never stayed anywhere so accessible! It made me realise how disabling it usually is to go away. I asked the manager of the hotel about the accommodation and she showed me some of the downstairs rooms which also have hoists in the bathroom. The hotel also has links to care companies so that some people can book carers to help, I’m not sure of the cost, as we did not use it but I thought how fantastic it was to have that available.” “We are trying to cram life into every second and the wonderful memories of that break away will stay with us forever! A chance for the boys to feel free, not to be ‘disabled by disability’ whist on a holiday, was a wonderful experience. Thank you Trewan Sands and tank you to all the staff at The Bond Hotel St Annes, |
