NEW BOND HOTELA New Hotel for the FutureThe Bond Hotel Blackpool is so succesful we're planning to knock it down! A New Hotel for the Future The Bond Hotel may not exist in its present form for much longer. Over the last 5 years the hotel has expanded and is now catering for more guests that ever. Sometimes demand is so great that we have to ask people to consider different dates for their holidays - and that's something we hate to do.Rather than expand the existing building, we are now planning to build a completely new Bond Hotel on the existing site. In 2008 Blackpool Council have given outline planning consent to a £14 million redevelopment of the site, and a new 142-bed hotel to replace the current building. The hotel will continue to cater principally for guests with physical and mental disabilities, and the new hotel will offer state-of-the-art facilities including a function room and restaurant/bar at ground floor level. The scheme will take place in two phases so the hotel can stay open. Phase 1 will be four storeys high, on the Withnell Road part of the site, while Phase 2 will be five storeys and open on to Bond Street. A raised glazed section will "punch up" through the roof to create a "focal feature". The scheme has been given a welcome by members of the local council. Councillor Jim Houldsworth was impressed with the plans. "This will mean disabled holidaymakers who get the opportunity to come to Blackpool can stay in 21st Century accommodation and enjoy the town", he commented. It is anticipated the building work will start within the next few years - and rest assured - we will remain open - and offering the same great holidays until the new building is open. We'll have more information about exactly how we'll manage the period of transition nearer the time - so keep checking our website. | |
