Caring for Animals

Barnet Lea Farm exists to provide a safe haven for donkeys that can no longer work for their living.  Many such animals work hard for many years, but later in life are left without a home unwanted and uncared for. The farm has rescued many such animals, and provided warm and safe surroundings where they can live out the remainder of their lives in the countryside.

Although funded initially by the kind contributions of Jeanette Greenwood and Shaun Atkinson of the Bond Hotel, in order to continue and expand we rely on the kind donations of well-wishers, and fund raising activities.

Adopt a Donkey

For a contribution of only £20 (£10 for children, 12 and under), you can adopt a donkey of your choice and help to pay for its keep for one year.  You will receive a certificate of adoption and a photograph of your chosen donkey.

If you're needing a little help choosing a donkey to adopt, why not take a peek at our "Meet the Donkey page", where you will find pictures and backgrounds for each of them.

You also earn the right to come and visit your donkey when you're on holiday at the Bond Hotel and help with feeding, grooming and even "mucking out" if you are fit enough.
